HISTORY OF THE DEPARTMENT ::

The soul mission to establish NIRMAL HALOI COLLEGE (earlier Pragjyoti College) is to provide education for the poor and disadvantaged with accessibility to higher education by bringing the education to the door step. Keeping the mission infront the Department of Assamese was established from the time of inception. At that time, the subject of Assamese was introduced only for Pure-University classes due to lack of a commendation for opening degree courses. Degree courses was introduced in 1985. But due to lack of building infrastructure Assamese major was introduced in the year 1989. In major the total number of students enrolled was 20.
